• This works:
    https://visionrise.com/

    But, this does not work:
    https://www.visionrise.com/

I think issue might have been related to rewrite rules. I had Bulletproof security installed, uninstalled it, and there was leftover code fomr the plugin in htaccess.

I cleaned htaccess up but the site still won’t open with www in the url. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

  • 1. Log into your wp-admin
    2. Browse to ‘Settings’ -> ‘General’
    3. Under ‘WordPress Address (URL)’ and ‘Site Address (URL)’ add www to the address as shown below
    4. Save the changes and try accessing your site from the non-www address
    5. The page should automatically redirect to the www address.

Thanks for the reply. I should have mentioned that I have a multisite installation.

Under ‘Settings’ -> ‘General’, there is no options to change urls.

I did find in “Network Admin/Sites” there is an option to change url for sub sites. But I didn’t find an option to change the url for main site. It is grayed out.

Also, in my wp-config file, I see this:

    define('DOMAIN_CURRENT_SITE', 'visionrise.com');

Any suggestions on where to change url for a multisite, if this is indeed the issue?

I think you should read this article first before trying to change your urls, which in your case, would be only directly in the database.

There are absolutely no SEO benefits of choosing one over another. Even Google has said that it all depends on your preference.

NeoTechnomad – thanks for the reply. I’m not so concerned about the SEO.

I just need to have someone reach the site when they type in https://www.visionrise.com or when arrive from a link from another site.

It’s strange, I’ve never had issues with other WP site like this. They always worked with either www or without www.

    Thanks for any help.
