Unable to upload image

  • I recently isntalled wordpress and uploaded a new theme.There is a problem of uploading images while we want to insert the pic in the post.Here is a link of its screenshot i took:

    It says
    ” unable to create directory/home/xyz(variable)/public_html/wp-content/uploads/2008/01.
    Is its parent directory writable by the server?
    Back to image uploading “

    i was able to upload the pic to post only after changing permissions to 777 of wp-content from my cpanel.Pls help

  • i upgraded to Wp2.7 and i too have this problem. error message i get is

    Unable to create directory /home/.boogee/cyriac/cyriac.me/wp-content/uploads/2008/12. Is its parent directory writable by the server?

    somebody please help !!!

    i found solution for my problem.

    change in settings>>misc. change store path URL to wp-content/uploads. leave full url path blank.

    no need for any CHMOD’ing
