• Howdy!

Has anyone had their Blog “attacked”? My hosting company has taken my entire site off-line because my Blog was being “attacked”. That’s all they are telling me and I have to wait up to 24 hours until they “investigate.”

What’s up with this? Does anyone have any idea what may have happened and how I can prevent this in the future? I know I’m not giving allot of info — but that’s all I have right now.

Thanks for any insight you may have!

    Judith

  • who is your hosting company?

istudio, if your website was idle (not attended) for days or weeks, that’s not an unusual case. We often (once or twice a week) find exploited websites and try to contact the owners. But they are usually out of reach. In many cases, we are obliged to find the hosts to give them kind notifications.

Many victimized websites are not attended or patrolled frequently enough, which makes them targets for exploitation.

How we prevent it… I mention some tips once in a while. I’m not going to mention them. Perhaps, you may want to run search.

    Howdy,

You should be able to leave your blog for weeks without touching it. Please let us know the hosting company if possible as a service to others who may also be dealing with this.

Also, please let us know if your blog issue is fixed because if you are paying a hosting company, they should be spending that money on keeping your blog safe instead of Xbox and pizza.

    Good luck,

    You are missing the point.

    You are missing the point.

    ya, i guess you’re right.

Why not mention them? It might help others to avoid the same problem. I do notice in the forums some other guy has been hacked via MySQL. Perhaps the script kiddies are finding new and improved ways to exploit WP 2.3.2.

Why can’t they use their powers for good instead of evil.

And @mac.. I’m not being facetious. I really would like to know the solutions you are talking about. Contact me off list if you like (view profile).

Can’t do. It no offense, but I don’t see the point of mentioning them every week or so. If you search WordPress Support, you will find useless tips mentioned by me plus other useful ones mentioned by others.
