I tried updating this plugin last week and got the error:

Update Failed: The update cannot be installed because we will be unable to copy some files. This is usually due to inconsistent file permissions

I was able to deactivate the plugin.

I then tried deleting the plugin from within WordPress and got a similar error:

Plugin could not be deleted due to an error: Could not fully remove the plugin(s) wordpress-simple-paypal-shopping-cart/wp_shopping_cart.php

I checked the plugin’s folder permissions (folder set to 775) and the specific file giving the error has permissions set to 664. I did try setting those file permissions to 777 but I still got the same error.

I am not getting this error with any other plugin, just WP Simple Shopping Cart. I also haven’t changed any permission settings since this plugin was first installed, so I’m not sure why it’s having issues all of a sudden.

    Any suggestions?

Hi, Connect to your site via FTP and see if you can manually delete the folder (wordpress-simple-paypal-shopping-cart). You will find it under /wp-content/plugins/.

Before I delete the folder, is there anything I need to do within the database to make sure all the elements of the plugin are removed so as not to break the site? I read a discussion on another WordPress support forum thread that said simply deleting the folder through FTP wasn’t enough. Thanks for the fast reply!

Just delete the folder then install it again via the WordPress plugin’s interface. Everything should continue to work as is after that.

Thanks MRA13, everything worked just fine after deleting the folder via FTP. Have a Happy New Year!

@mimicplay that is great news ??

Can you mark this support thread as resolved.

    Thank you
