Why can't I get help on the darn SUPPORT forum!?

I understand your frustration. A good percentage of problems go unanswered here. But it is easy to see why.

There are a lot of threads asking for help. I’m sure for most visitors that is their only reasons for coming.
The blockiness of the forum,and lack of warm fuzzy things like avatars, pms etc. means there is less a sense of community, therefore less reason to just login and hangout when you don’t have a wordpress problem of your own. But WordPress is so big, moderating those things would be a major headache.

So, I tend to discuss wordpress at other forums, where almost all threads get aknowledged and discussed, only running here when I’m truly stumped. And then I try to get the gist of my problem in a few words in the title.

But it is easy to see why.

You must have missed it then as what you write really shows a lack of experience with this forums.

Actually there are a lot of threads demanding help, not asking for it. Also most topics have been discussed previously many times over in the past with solutions quickly found by searching. (Perfect example) The problem is most folks post first and wait until someone answers them instead of searching or even looking through the docs provided. That takes time away from the volunteers who spend all their time trying to help as many as they can.

There are other reasons as well that don’t seem to be recognized by the powers that be and I seriously doubt they ever well.

I understand both responses…The aspect of everyone searching for help rather than visiting just to provide support AND the issue with posters being demanding and/or ‘ignoring’ other posts that may help them solve their issues!

My problem seems to be that I HAVE found semi-solutions by reading through previous posts but can’t get them to necessarily work…When I add to that string, no one provides further support (Understandably) and when I start a new string (without such an obnoxious title) I get no response!

Amen to that, I spend most of my time just giving people links to the docs page with the answer explained in depth or either the link to search results of the same question being asked dozens of times.

furthermore, the support is free without gratitude more often than not.

i must say, though, it is partially my fault, too; i/we need to create a support wizard that asks questions step-by-step to help users fix some of these problems.. when i/we get around to it.
