    Hi there,

I am using the newest version of plugin and WordPress. First of all, thank you for a great work!

I run a WordPress website with Polylang. In Polylang, I have the option “Activate languages and translations for media” DISABLED (not sure if it matters, I stress it just in case).

I have my Att. Categories translated in two languages (English and Polish). Now I want to mark my photos to be in both English and Polish translated categories. For example, category “About the author” in English has its Polish counterpart “O autorze”. If I select both categories, the media files will only be bound with the English one. If I select only the Polish “O autorze” category, the media files will again bind only to its English counterpart “About the author”.

This was not a problem in the previous versions (not sure which one, as I haven’t updated my website for a while and now I’ve just updated all my plugins and wordpress core and I have noticed this issue).

It is very crucial, as when I want to add photos in a post that is in Polish, I can’t see the English categories, and therefore I can’t filter out the photos I need.

I’ve tried it both in Bulk editor as well as in Editing single media file – it’s doing the same thing.

Thanks a lot for any help!
    Simon

Thanks for your kind words and for the detailed information about your site and application.

I have not done any testing with “ “Activate languages and translations for media” DISABLED, so I am setting up a separate system to verify what happens in that mode.

In the interim, you can try disabling Term Assignment, Synchronization and Mapping Replication. Go to the Settings, Media Library Assistant Language tab, scroll down, uncheck the boxes for these options and click “Save Changes” to record the new settings. Let me know if that helps.

I have set up a test system and done some experiments. I verified that if you disable the Term Assignment, Synchronization and Mapping Replication options you can “bind” media files to any combination of Att. Categories values you want. This works best if you are in the “All languages” mode as set by the language switcher dropdown in the Admin bar.

I also see that when you create or edit a post/page, the Media Manager Modal (popup) Window (MMMW) has a taxonomy dropdown control (e.g., “All Att. Categories”) that only shows the terms defined for the language of the post/page. Is this what you mean when you write “when I want to add photos in a post that is in Polish, I can’t see the English categories …“?

I will work on some changes to better accommodate this case. In particular, I will try to make two changes:

    1. Change the default settings for Term Assignment, Synchronization to disabled if the Polylang “Activate languages and translations for media” setting is disabled.
    2. Populate the MMMW taxonomy dropdown with all terms regardless of language when the media languages option is disabled.

Are there any other changes required for your application?

Thank you for a fast response!

Yes, that is exactly what I meant – even in “All languages” mode you can only see the categories that are in the same language as the post you are editing.

I disabled Term Assignment, Synchronization and Mapping Replication and I can confirm it works fine for me right now.

Nothing else that I need so far, but I won’t hesitate to ask again if anything comes up ??

Thanks a lot again for providing me with a quick solution.

    Cheers!

Thanks for confirming my test results and proposed improvements.

I have uploaded a new MLA Development Version that contains the two fixes I outlined in my last post. To get the Development Version, follow the instructions in this earlier topic:

Shortcode not working in (special) widget

It would be great if you could install the Development Version and verify that the MMMW dropdown control shows all the Att. Categories values regardless of language. I believe that’s the last change you need for your application.

Thanks for your help with these changes.

I have released MLA version 2.22, which contains the two fixes I outlined in my earlier post. I hope they address the issue you raised regarding terms displayed in the “All languages” mode. If there is anything else I can do, please post an update and I will look into it.
