How to create a test site by copying the already running website

  • Hello,

    I am a basic user for web operations and just created a websiteWordpress+Woocommerce+Flatsome. I have bought the domain names from Goddy but hosting is on another provider.

    What do I need to do to create a second website as the same as the current one which won’t be public and indexed by google?

    I will appreciate your kind help.

  • Within Dashboard > Settings > Reading you can check/select the following under:

    Search Engine Visibility
    Discourage search engines from indexing this site
    It is up to search engines to honor this request.

    Another way is to install a under construction or private mode plugin. So I did a search within WordPress Plugins and the results are on this page.

    Please always check that the plugin you choose is compatible with your WordPress version. Usually looking at the number of installations and overall feedback from users will give you a good gauge on whether to use a plugin.

    Actually at the moment I struggle with accessing the WP admin of the newly created site. I chose the method of creating a subdomain. I have copied the wordpress files and then it prompted me the initial setting for workers so that I can reenter the new URL and the homepage. Until this moment I though I succeeded.

    After I have copied the original database through my hosting control panel using export-import function, I lost my hope. Now I cannot access the wpadmin anymore and it gives me also errors of subdomain does not exist.
    Where do I do wrong? I dont know.
