Excerpts – How do i do it

    If you have changed the index.php template file to display the Excerpt instead of the full Content of a post, WordPress will automatically use the first 55 words of your post as the Excerpt or up until the use of the More Quicktag mark. If you use an Explicit Excerpt, this will be used no matter what.

    How do i change so that in index page only some part of the post and a more tags comes and when clicked it shows the full post

  • I’m not sure what you mean, but did you try an excerpt plugin? In those you can usually set the length yourself and say what coding should be preserved (html, ul, etc.). I use Advanced Excerpt which you will see on top of the page that I linked to.
