• Hi there,

I’m making a site using The7 v3 theme, which uses Visual Composer a lot in the site. It’s got some filters built in, but you can only use one at a time, and it doesn’t pick up my Custom fields.

So, I want to check if S&F plays nicely with both Visual Composer and ACF?

Also, I’m not very good at code so try to avoid it if I can – is the plugin pretty idiot friendly? As well as using it on a page to create filters of property by Custom Fields (no. of bedrooms, property type, etc, which looks good in your Movie demo), I also want to create an event page with a calendar search of between dates to find future events.

Hopefully this is the plugin for me and my search is over!

(p.s. I’m not entirely clear what is possible in the free version and what you get in the PRO version).

So I had a play around and managed to get it working on my site – looks really great!

Just one thing, when I click submit on the filters the search results appear on an ‘Archive’ page of the theme – how can I get them to filter but stay on the same page?

Many thanks and well done on a great plugin! Not sure if I will need the pro version, as this free one is nearly doing what I need… maybe will need the pro when I come to figuring out how to do a datepicker calendar for selecting events between dates!

    Hey there

You must edit the archive template that is being used to display your results and add in the shortcode for the search form.

S&F always redirects to a results page, so its up to you to get hte layout of the archive page matching the layout of the current page the search is being performed on.

S&F pro allows you to use a shortcode to position results, so you can actually have all your search functionality displaying on one specific page.

    Thanks

    Thanks for the reply.

Does that mean there could only be one filter on a site, if the results page needs to be changed to look like the original page?

With PRO allowing results to be displayed on the same page, you could have multiple filter searches on different pages, and results appearing on those pages?

Is it possible to use AJAX to filter / display results?

    Thanks again

    Hey again

Yup, so the free plugin navigates you around your taxonomy archives when making selections in the filter. This doesn’t allow for an awful lot of flexibility because you may need to modify different archive templates in your theme for a consistent layout.

S&F Pro allows you to create multiple search forms, each with their own display methods and separate results pages.

S&F Pro comes with Ajax yes ??

    Thanks
