My subdomains are showing server not found

  • Hello friends ,

    I’m currently confused now.

    Two days ago , i created a wordpress multisite and religiously followed all the guide involved in creating WPMU. I decided to use a subdomain and have to configure a wildcard subdomain to let that work. After i finished the configuration and ready to start creating a subsite with my site. I started seeing problems because all the subsites am creating are showing up “server not found” check https://adetona.facepassion.com

    I have to contact my host (hostgator) to help me look into my wildcard configuration and they said that they’ve helped me configure it.

    To my surprise , the error is still showing up.

    The main site is working perfectly but no subsite is not functioning.

    I really need your help.

    Hi Adetona! Multisite can be confusing!

    Just to check: you read and followed these instructions about setting up your network (and not a blog post from somewhere that might have left something out…)

    Double-check that you made the required edits to wp-config.php and the .htaccess file.

    One common mistake people make in trying to create subsites is in how they set them up. You don’t mention how you are doing that, but to create a subsite in WP multisite, simply go to Sites — Add New in the Network Admin dashboard. You do NOT need to create the subdomain in your hosting. Multisite will do this for you using the wildcard domain that you set up in your hosting account.
