I had a wordpress installation through go daddy that I had mostly abandoned. I decided to give up on it and let the domain expire. Somehow whoever took it over is now using the subscriber list to spam the 300+ subscribers I had. I can’t figure out how to actually contact any of the wordpress people to see if there is a way to clear the list.

Has anyone had experience with this or know of anything I can do?

What plugin is being used to send the subscription emails?

I honestly don’t recall. I’m a little unclear how what’s happening is even possible. The hosting and domain expired. Hosting is gone. So no current WordPress site. The new site at my old domain appears to be WordPress as well but I doubt (really hope) that godaddy would have changed over hosting as well.

I believe that it’s sending emails of new posts through WordPress.com. I am able to login and see a subscription to that site on my login.

No other options though. Just for me to stop following that domain.

Ok, that site is using Jetpack, so I assume it’s using Jetpack’s Subscription Module.

Are you saying that you control the site, or that you’re just a subscriber?

If you’re just a subscriber, then all you can do is unsubscribe.

If you control the site, you can either switch off the Subscription module at Jetpack -> Settings in the blog’s Dashboard, or contact the folks at https://jetpack.me/contact-support/ to see if they can help with forcing everyone to unsubscribe.

Thanks. I sent them an email.

I WAS the owner of the site but no longer am so I can’t access the site or plugins. But they are spamming my old subscribers. Probably why they picked up the domain in the first place.
