    Hi,
I would really appreciate some help with this. My client has an e-commerce store for harp sheet music on https://www.annemarieofarrell.com. A couple of months ago I updated woocommerce and my client had reported that she was getting duplicate orders (and irate complaints from customers). Today in an attempt to solve the problem I updated to the latest version of woocommerce and now it is impossible to place orders at all. The Paypal Place Order box is completely grayed out (Paypal is the only payment option she offers). In Chrome I am getting the error message: SyntaxError: Unexpected token <
I have increased my PHP memory. I have tried deactivating all plugins and reactivating them one-by-one. To no avail. Do you know of any conflicts with the Virtue Theme? Please can you help. This is my client’s busiest time of year and she is very unhappy about this.
    Regards,
    Mel

  • Have you tried deactivating plugins? There isn’t anything with the theme. I can test, payment isn’t edited at all by the theme.

Go through one by one and deactivate your plugins, be sure to clear your site cache each time and check the results.

Thanks Kadence but I had already tried that and it does not appear to be a plugin problem. I am getting an error message in WooCommerce:

Your theme (Virtue) contains outdated copies of some WooCommerce template files. These files may need updating to ensure they are compatible with the current version of WooCommerce. You can see which files are affected from the system status page. If in doubt, check with the author of the theme.

I have been trying to solve this all night and am facing a brick wall. Help!

    Hey,
If you seeing that error it means your not using the latest version of the theme? What version do you have installed? You should update.

Are you using a child theme?

Hi thanks, I updated the theme. I have solved the problem, this seems to be a common problem when upgrading to latest version of WooCommerce. In case this will help somebody else here is how I solved the problem:
I contacted Mike Jolley on GitHub and I was able to isolate the issue causing the problem using the method he directed me to here: https://mikejolley.com/2015/11/12/debugging-unexpected-token-in-woocommerce-2-4/
Turns out it was a plugin I had installed and deleted (WP Supercache), even though I had deleted it from my plugins directory, it had written to my wp-config file. Once I changed that, everthing worked again.
