• Hi

Don’t know if you remember me – about a week ago i was asking about why credly didn’t seem to want to play ball with badgeos. Since then I have done a pile of testing, with credly and I don’t seem to be getting anywhere. I am not even sure if badgeos is working properly – on 2013 with all plugins deactivated. For instance if I have a test user (subscriber) and they get a badge they don’t receive an email (despite the option being checked – assuming its supposed to!) and when they are logged in it doesn’t show in their profile, though I can see it of course when I am logged in as admin.

    Is this behavior correct?

btw I am getting to the point where I think it might be best if i just paid for some support – I have to have this working fully before christmas.

I believe the email setting is for submissions/nominations only, if I recall correct. Not for any set up achievement.

The only profile-based thing that should be showing achievements is with BuddyPress/Community Addon. Otherwise you need to find a way to display their earned achievements on the frontend. Right now that’s primarily the widget, but I want to get more/easier ways to do this in a future version of the plugin. If the profile you’re referring to is the WP Admin user profile, then only admins can see achievements listed there, another thing I want to change in a future version.

So far, it sounds like all the behavior is correct, just not optimal for every use-case that users come up with. These improvements are already in my own mind to amend/improve upon.

Thanks Michael – really helpful. Sounds like everything is working at the Badgeos end then.

All this started because badges weren’t not appearing at Credly. So we had one achievement with 4 steps – only something weird lke number 2 showed up at credly. None of the others had a credly number in the wp backend.

Well, am back to credly then for me I guess.

Is there any sort of issue with the credly integration that you know of? As a user I am finding myself a bit stuck int he middle I think!!!

Not sure on that one still. Trying to figure out the Credly integration stuff a bit more.

We can only go as far as posting the data to their API, what happens with the data afterwards is out of the hands of the plugin itself. Forgive me if this is repeated statements from your other thread, just needing to re-iterate. We haven’t had any changes made to the Credly integration in the plugin recently, which is why I believe it’s on the other side. It’s making everyone stuck in the middle as well, you’re not alone.

    Hi Again Michael

I wanted to show you a pdf/screen shot. It shows the view that an admin gets when they look at a test user. Its been pointed out to me by credly that there is duplication of the badges for this test user. They are suggesting this might be an issue?

    What do you think?

    Thanks again.

you can email it to michael @ webdevstudios . com

However if any of those duplicates have the generic thumbs up graphic with it, then chances are that’s just the step achievement for the user, and not the overall achievement you created to be earned at the end of the day. Not an obvious difference or case, but an important one regarding the internals of BadgeOS.

Best way to test this would be to click on the links in the middle column and see if they lead to the same url. Also won’t hurt to check if that’s one that can be awarded multiple times.

Just as a disclaimer to clear up potential confusion, I’m not a direct Credly/LearningTImes employee, but I am on the support/development team for the BadgeOS products. With this, I don’t have any access to Credly’s side of things in regards to their setup and API.

    HI Michael

    Thanks for replies,

I checked out the test user again – ‘bobthedog’ has been awarded the first mission 4 times – and the all links in the middle go to the same place.

I know you aren’t responsible for credly API /setup.

I am wanting to be get the badgeos side of things sorted. (Credly had been helping quickly but have gone very quiet now – the last thing they said was that something was wrong with badgeos – I want to clear up that I have set it up right. I will chase them again)

Thanks as ever – its frustrating i am sure!

Frustrating indeed, as our end hasn’t changed at all in this area, and we had a strange small run of Credly-based issues crop up within the span of a week or so.

    HI – thanks for reply
True. What about those multiple awards I was talking about? That’s not right is it?
