I have a question that others have asked before and which you have addressed well. In both instances, it seemed to have dressed user’s questions. But following the information your provided which is pasted here, it has not addressed mine i.e. the page edit link on admin bar takes me to post submission page:

If you disable “Frontier Edit” in the Frontier Capabilities, the edit button will always link to the backend.

If you keep “Frontier Edit”end uncheck “Can Page” in capabilities, you will use FP for post, but not for pages.

Can you please explain these a little better for me. i a novice but i know a pretty plugin when i see one ?? which is why i’m here. i’ve tried following the guide and it still doesnt work for me.

also i wanted to ask if it has anything to do with me having a multisite network. fyi i had a similar issue with a regular wordpress site and i somehow managed to resolve it following the threads. but i have no idea what is did right. please help. thanks.

    Hi,

First of all, I discovered a bug – They way it should work:

    If “Frontier Edit” is checked:
#1 When user select edit post from frontend (admin bar or link on post), the user will be redirected to Frontier Post.
#2 If can page also is checked: When user select edit page from frontend (admin bar or link on post), the user will be redirected to Frontier Post.

    If “Frontier Edit” is UNchecked:
Users will be redirected to the backend for both posts and pages.

Due to a bug, if “Frontier Edit” is checked and “Can Page” is unchecked, the Edit Page ling would not work (be hidden)

This will be fixed in Frontier Post version 3.8 planned to be released later this week.

I hope the above answers your question – If not please let me know what you expect to happen, and what actually happens.

If there are issues with multi site, I do not know, as I do not have a Multi site installation to test on.

Thanks for the clarification (and the timely feedback).
So it is clear to me now. But it has not worked either way – i’ve tried a few iterations. It looks like it works for everyone but me. But I like this plugin. there’s no going back.

I’ll wait to have the updates and hope they address my situation. If it is within your plans at all could you sometime look at how the plugin performs on multisite?

Also if there is anyone on the forum who has this plugin working on multisite wordpress can you provide some information about how you handled the edit page/post admin bar link. Thanks

Marking it as resolved, let me know if you do not agree

I do not agree. I’m having the exact same issue.

I figured out the problem. On a multisite network, the network admin has all permissions, and therefore, has the “Frontier Edit” permission causing the “Edit Page” admin bar link to go to the Frontier editor instead of the back-end editor. Is there a different way you can manage that setting instead of a permission?

Hi, I think I may be running into the same or a similar issue. My Author’s have “Can Edit” and “Frontier Edit” privileges. “Can page” and “Show admin bar” are left blank for Authors. When they click on one of their published posts to make a change to it, there is no Edit link available. So there is no way for them to edit the post. They need to be able to edit their draft, pending, and published posts through Frontier Post.

I have now updated to 3.8.1.

    Thank you!!
