    Hello

My WordPress.com domain is set to expire in 50 more days and I think I’m finally ready to switch over to .ORG.

First off, I will be able to retain my domain when I switch over, correct?

Been reading a number of posts about it, but just wondering if there was anything I definitely need to do.

Thank you all for any assistance!

Assuming you mean the domain is registered with WordPress.com, just transfer or move your domain following this guide: https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/move-domain/

*Do Not* allow your domain to expire. If your domain expires, it will enter a waiting period of up to 90 days, during which the domain could be simply auctioned or awarded to someone on a waiting list, before it’s finally made available for you to purchase again (assuming you can purchase it before someone else). That’s how all registrars operate, due to ICANN regulations, not just a WordPress.com-specific thing.

Yes, that was exactly what I meant. Thank you James. I definitely wanted to make sure that was the case. I appreciate you responding!
