Modifying table width

Hello,

I notice that tables (on pages, for example) get scaled along with the width of the window, which in many cases makes the table harder to read. I’ve tried specifying the width in the text editor, but it makes no difference and the width of the table still changes with the width of the window. Is there a way to stop it from doing this?
