Main window in Admin area is blank no matter what menu item I click

  • When I log into the admin of a WordPress site I created back in 2011, I see the menu down the left hand side but the main window is blank. No matter what I click on in the menu there is no longer content in main window.

    I read through a bunch of posts and did some Googling but nothing really is a definitive resolve. I would update the version of the WordPress to the latest, but I can’t see the contents of my dashboard to do so—and at present have no access to the clients FTP.

    Any help would be much appreciated. The current version the site has is 3.3.2.

    Try manually resetting your plugins (no Dashboard access required). If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

    If that does not resolve the issue, access your server via FTP or SFTP, navigate to /wp-content/themes/ and rename the directory of your currently active theme. This will force the default theme to activate and hopefully rule-out a theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).

    Plugins have been reset and still have the problem.

    As for the theme…there’s a hitch. it’s custom and there’s no default theme.

    As for the databases, I contacted the hosting company and they’ve reset site and the databases have come back so I’m going to perform a back up and go from there. But I can’t get to it until tomorrow [Friday] so I’ll let you know where I’m at after I do this.

    Then you can try the theme reset trick. You won’t lose your custom theme, you’re just renaming the directory to force WordPress to Twenty Fifteen and rule-out the theme as the source of your problem.
