    Hey,

Thank you for opening a topic. Please note, that the limiting factor on the loading of this plugin is the connection to the Facebook server. On default, this plugin loads the API synchronically.

The main reason for this is that often, users have other social plugins active and this may cause conflicts. If you have configured all other social plugins with the same API Key, you can enable performance mode and it loads asynchronic.

However, this is an issue which I’ll investigate further and see if it can be optimized further.

Thanks for your feedback. Actually I also tried with the performance mode activated, but it did not change much.
I’d like to stress that until the last 3 updates, I hadn’t noticed this speed issue. This may have happened somewhere in between…

This is still a huge issue and the reason why I have not deactivated the plugin. IMHO the plugin is useless because it add a huge amount of extra kB to be loaded. A shame with a payed plugin…

Thanks for the feedback, the next version of the plugin will probably migrate to use featherlight instead of Fancybox. This should result in better page ranking.

… and when can we expect that version to be available?

I try to finish it up in a week or two. Still have a lot of testing to do. But the code itself is ready. Might add more optimalisations like minified code and inline inclusion (to prevent extra http request). This way any performance decrease can be attributed to loading the Facebook API. The main problem is, is that robustness of the plugin (its ability to function on many different installations) most often means an decrease in performance

Here are the pagespeed result of the test I done today:

These results look pretty promising! Nice ??
I’ve launched a pagespeed analysis on arevico.com, and there are indeed far less resources than before (most of them https://staticxx.facebook.com/connect), that aren’t compressed.

I remember than the last available version of the Facebook Page Promoter Lightbox plugin required to call dozens of resources from https://staticxx.facebook.com/connect

That’s an improvement. Can’t wait to test it.
Will the plugin stay performant when combined with other caching and minifying plugins?

Thanks for the update – looking forward to seeing the improved version.

    Hey guys,

    Quick update
@nikkoboy it should stay performant when using minifcation and caching plugins

Few things I’ve added: a polling process to check when Facebook is loaded so it becomes more robust (without loading the API twice).

Options for minifcation and inline code in the footer. This way, 3 HTTP requests are eleminated resulting in better performance (3 2 scripts – 1 style).

Small problem tough, I still need to test a lot of use-cases. I have broken my wrist horse riding recently, so i wasn’t able to work on it as much. However, this friday or saturday I’ll commit the new version to the trunk. This means that you can download it manually, but doesn’t show an update (the premium beta will be added to the member page).

This way you can start using it and let me know also how it works ??

with the new update if you set like this:
minify and inline + don’t load facebook API

    pagespeed score don’t change.
but the like box don’t show? why?

    Hi,

Do you have other social plugins active? The don’ t load the Facebook API function should only be enabled when an other plugin already load the API. Otherwise, you should probably use the Async version.

Please send me a link to check out your website if you still having trouble.

    Best regards,
    Friso

No i don’t have other plugins.
async is not good for pagespeed score. only don’t load api.

    portalultautv.ro
now is activated with minify and inline + don’t load facebook API
check and see what is wrong please. thanks

no.just yours. with Async pagespeed drop the score

now it activated with minify and inline + don’t load facebook API
    portalultautv . ro
is the website.check it out please. it not show the box

The Pagespeed will drop somewhat, if Facebook API aren’t loaded by either this plugin or another plugin, then we can’t use Facebook. A small drop in page speed is to be expected if you want to be able to use Facebook’s functions.

The best available settings in your case are to select
    – Load Async.
    – Minify and inline.

    Best regards.
    Friso

    From 90 to 66, it’s not “somewhat”.
    With async drop’s to 77 from 90.

it’s just wired how a facebook plugin can do that to pagespeed and it’s again wired, in 2016 no one can make a plugin witch can keep the pagespeed score good. we want like but we like google rank better.

    it’s just annoying..
