• I cannot use the WP Editor to change the style sheet or functions file. MSG:

You need to make this file writable before you can save your changes. See the Codex for more information.

I checked the file permissions on the server and they are fine. If I change the file permission on those files to 777, I can then update with the editor. I don’t need to say why this is not a long-term solution.

I deactivated the plug-ins, activated 2014… it doesn’t solve the issue.

    Please help…

    Hi there celeb!

If you haven’t already, reach out to your hosting provider. It sounds like their permissions may not be properly setup.

    Hope you get this resolved!

I have reached out to my hosting provider as suggested Jose. As far as they can tell, the problem is not at their end. The permissions on my file are all as they should be, so they think the problem is with WordPress since I don’t have any problems updating the files outside of WP. This is a year later, I still haven’t found a solution. It’s unfortunate because I find the ‘editor’ function in WordPress faster than having to log in to my server via FTP.
