I am maintaining a site running Bota 2.1, though this has been an issue since 1.9:

    https://jerryjean.com

I wanted to customize the style sheet, so I created a child theme. The ONLY changes I did were the following:

    • Changed the background color of the top bar to white
    • Changed its height to 30px instead of 40px
    • Changed the color of the side borders to white
    • Swapped out the CSS for the in/socmed.php file so that instead of calling up FontAwesome icons for specific social media profiles, it would instead have an image – literally just swapping out the tag for the font awesome with the tag for the image, though I also removed the class=”social_media” from each link in that file
    • Removed the div tag with the dark bar at the bottom that said “Powered by WordPress” which I have now put back in case that was breaking it.

The problem: tapping on any of the social icons in the top menu bar or the menu itself does not work on an iPhone 5 in either Chrome or Safari. I’ve confirmed this from multiple iPhone 5 users. It all works great on Android, iPads, multiple desktop browsers and both iPhone 6x and iPhone 4x. But not iPhone 5.

I don’t think anything I’ve done, as simple as those basic stylesheet and template changes are, could be causing this. We’ve tried disabling all plugins. We’ve tried using an unedited fresh install of Bota. NOTHING helps. I’m at my wit’s end. If anyone can please shed some light onto why the menu and those image links at the top don’t work ONLY on that platform, I would be forever grateful. ??
