Wow… I just worked on a new post and can not believe how slow the editing is. I am waiting for literally one text character at a time to populate the sentence. I deactivated Yoast and all went back to normal. I turned Yoast back on and had slow again.

I decided to determine which plugins I have that affect editing. TinyMCE and ImageInject were the only two I have. I deleted both of them and things sped up where I could get my post completed. But this is awful… Just sayin’

Using theme “Responsive” with latest WP.

If you re-enable those plugins one by one, are you able to determine which combination is causing the slow-down?

I deleted them. The only post type editor or plugin I have that might affect text would seem to be the latest Yoast. I will go through each plugin and see if there is one that stands out.

I am having the same issue. When you’re typing in the editor, you will notice a slow down from time to time that appears to get worse the longer the length of the post. At a certain point, editing a post becomes almost impossible. I went through and deactivated every other plugin, one by one, to determine if there was a conflict, and I found none. The only solution is to deactivate Yoast SEO.

How did such an amazing plugin take such a wrong turn? What bothers me is that I am not reading any other posts about the editor slowing down. I thought maybe the theme is the problem but I haven’t had a problem until this plugin was updated.

It acts like auto correct is on but needs to look through 40 billion words before it allow each word to be filled in.

I’m having the same issue. I updated Yoast SEO this morning and, ever since, my editor crawls. I can type a letter and it literally takes 20 seconds before the letter actually appears in the editor. I went through and deactivated all plugins and nothing seemed to fix it. The only solution I’ve found was to deactivate Yoast and everything works again.

    I’m using the Voice theme.

I’ve noticed other issues as well like broken image icons randomly showing up inside my WordPress dashboard, slow loading when I click to edit a post, and various other little glitches. All of the issues disappear when I deactivate Yoast SEO.

Does anyone know of any alternatives where the data can be completely imported over? I don’t want to lose the meta data, etc. that I created with Yoast SEO when I make a move to something that’s not broken…

I guess what I would like to know is what direction we should take. Do we disable Yoast until this issue is resolved and if we do, do we lose our meta data in the meanwhile?

Roll back to version 2.3.5 while you are waiting for a fix to be released.

You can do this manually through FTP or your host’s file manager, or with a plugin solution.

You won’t lose your settings or existing meta data.

Same problem here. If I try editing certain posts it takes 3-5 seconds for each character I type or delete! Everything is fine when I disable Yoast SEO.

I tried disabling all of my plug-ins except Yoast SEO and I still had the same problem. I even tried changing my theme to 2 different default WordPress themes but still the problem remains.

I will be rolling back to a previous version as barnez suggested.

I am having the same problems, I run a number of sites and updated YOAST only to find it takes 10 minutes to write a few word !!! not good.

Will roll back to version 2.3.5 until the problem is resolved.

TacoVerdo, if you want access to my site, I will give it to you privately. Maybe it will help you figure out what is going on with the post editing problem.
