Issues with permalinks
-
Details: WP 4.3.1, Yoast SEO 3.0.1.
Hello,
I’m having a rather annoying issue ever since 3.0.0 (including 3.0.1), with permalinks.
When posting a post with a long title, the full permalink isn’t displayed in its entirety (just below the title, in the text editor). You get something like:
https://example.com/i-love-sush-…t-this-joint/
But if you click on the permalink, you get the full permalink:
https://example.com/i-love-sushi-and-you-should-really-should-check-out-this-joint
The problem is since the 3.0.0 update, Yoast is fetching the ‘shortened’ permalink and overwriting the text editor permalink. I end up with an url like that:
https://example.com/i-love-susht-this-joint/
The URL DOES work properly (not 404 error), but it doesn’t look good at all and can be confusing. One way to avoid that is by copy/pasting the right permalink in the Snippet editor.
If I disable Yoast, then the full permalink is kept and everything’s good, so the problem definitely comes from the plug-in. Also tried with just Yoast activated on Chrome, same issue.
I think this issue may be linked to the “focus keyword not found in URL” error some people have been reporting, since the “shortened” permalink Yoast fetches is quite likely to cut part of the focus keyword in the permalink.
Thanks in advance for the help!
