    hmm … sounds a bit like this from the Changelog:

    Bug Fix: Fixed a situation where creation of a zipped export file would fail, but an email would still be sent as if the zip was created successfully.

    According to the Changelog this should be fixed in any release newer\higher than 4.6.13

    But I seriously doubt it …

    If you have the Compress Backup Files setting enabled try and disable it temporarily (Save All Settings) and then create a manual database backup from the Backups tab.

    If that sends a backup email with attachment … bingo !

    Hey so sorry I wonder why I only got the “bump” message.
    Yes I tried that – it did not fix it.

    So I deleted the plugin then reinstalled it and did all my settings again and still it will send an email with no attachment. Works fine on my other sites just not on this one site.

    @aaron1126

    I’ve noticed other topic starters also don’t always receive an email.
    Apologies for the bump …;-)

    Hmm … weird

    Is there both a .sql and .zip file created in the backup location ?
    And what are the sizes of these files ?

    To be honest I haven’t checked that yet – that could be the reason why haven’t received in my email it could be too large my website is huge. Let me check that I feel like an idiot that I didn’t check that

    So checked it – it is not working. It is not even saving it locally like it should be. Should I completely delete it and reinstall the plugin?

    @aaron1126

    If the Backup Method setting is currently set to ‘Email Only’ (which is default) it’s actually correct there is no backup file present.

    No need to reinstall the plugin. Just change the Backup Method setting to ‘Email and Save Locally’ and try and manually create a new Database Backup.

    Then check again which file(s) is(are) present and the(ir) size(s).

    I set it to that, tested it. Did not work.

    @aaron1126

    Ok. So there are no files created whatsoever …

    Does the manual Database Backup attempt create a new log entry in the Logs page ? If so what info is displayed under the Details link of the latest backup entry ? Check the previous ones as well.

    I will take a screen shot of what it does and send a link to show you. I am on my way back home.

    @aaron1126

    Ok. Please note the manual Database Backup only creates a log entry if the Schedule Database Backups setting is enabled.
    Probably a bug …

    @aaron1126

    Aha ok, you are getting an error.
    Please make sure the wp-content/uploads/ithemes-security/backups folder exists and you have sufficient permissions to access it.

    To temporarily workaround the scandir error you could change the Backups to Retain setting to 0 (which is the default value) and then Save All Changes.

    However it seems the scandir error is a good reason why there are no backup files created. So I would recommend to solve that problem instead of working around the error. It may actually solve this topic issue.
