woocommerce product category widget errors

I have product categories in my left sidebar using the woocommerce product category widget. However when you hover over each category, the entire category list open up. The + signs also don’t work as you can’t open up individual products.
You would also expect the sub categories to be indented, as currently you can’t actually identify which product is related to which category.
I’ve spent ar too long on trying to identify this so Any help much appreciated.
