• Hello.

I run a small charity website and we want to set up an online joining form. This is a form to join the organisation, not to access the website. We’re not currently interested in offering members-only content.

I’ve been trying to find a plugin that will do the job, but it’s impossible to weed out the ones that are mainly aimed at protecting online content. We don’t for instance really want people to have to set up a website username, as they won’t need it for anything else. At most they would log in once a year to renew their membership.

In terms of the back end, all it really needs to do at the moment is to send the office manager an email with the new member’s details, after taking payment via PayPal or card. There are a few membership levels.

    Does such a plugin exist?

    Thanks.

  • Hi Daisy,

From what you’re describing, I think it’s better to have accounts for your members, since they will need to annually renew their membership. So, it’s much easier to send them notifications that their membership will expire and ask them to log in and pay for one more year.

I suggest looking into Paid Member Subscriptions which will allow you to set up different membership levels and allow users to sign up for them and pay via PayPal. You won’t be needing the restrict content part, so you can simply use it to create the plans and ask people to pay for becoming a member.

Once a member will register, the admin can be notified an email with the member details. Here’s a video on how to set up membership levels with PMS.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks. I’ve had a go with this and it looks like it should do the job in theory, but doesn’t account for us needing to ask registrants what format they want the magazine in and getting them to complete a Gift Aid declaration.

Hm. Perhaps it’s time to call in a real developer.

You’re right, it probably needs some custom development as well to wrap all the pieces together.
