Since latest update: closing GALLERY goes back to top of post

Since the latest update of Jetpack (some time early last week) the following happens: you open a photo gallery, go through the images, and when you close the image carousel the page jumps back to the top of the post! Jetpack actually seems to add a blank anchor tag to the link!
domain.com/post-title/#

Previously the focus remained exactly at the spot of the page where the gallery is located!

This happens with all pages, published after and before the last update. Since I often include 2 or 3 small galleries in one of our travel blog posts I find this annoying and would like to get it fixed.
