• I’m new to WordPress, blogging and code. I understand basic HTML, but obviously that’s not going to help me with ftp.

I attempted to update my WP version and failed miserably. I don’t even know where to find the upgrade URL. I uploaded the wordpress download through Blue Host’s unlimited ftp client, but it’s scattered throughout my folders.

What did I do wrong? I don’t want any visual help, I just want to upgrade this and get a move on adding content. I’m worried that if I add content and begin to customize my theme before upgrading I’ll be hurting in the long run, or even worse I’ll plain lose all my work

Someone help, it’d be super cool if a mod could PM me and help me get set-up real quick.

    Thanks,

    Nate

  • I feel the same. Obviously with all the questions the past 24 hours, there is a problem with the upgrade on not all, but many of the users servers. I think WP could make the installation process more straight forward for those of us who do not have the time, or extensive knowledge to follow their vague directions.

I also used Bluehost to upload my first 2.3.1 WordPress. I talked with them yesterday and also sent them a email to change their version to 2.3.2. They said they would not any time soon unless it is a significant upgrade (say to 2.4.0).

You might also try contacting BlueHost to see if they will go ahead and add 2.3.2, the more asking the better.

However, it may be best to use 2.3.1 until the dust clears, and the bugs are worked out. For now I am just using the version with wordpress.com, works for me as I have a website for other uses.
