I have most of my website set up as *pages* not blog posts. All of my pages suddenly turned into posts. (This coincided with my blogroll suddenly including several spam links, so I assume the database got hacked.) Is there a way that I can quickly and easily change the posts back into pages? I don’t have a backup of the database from before this happened, and I’m not very technical (I used a one-click install to set up WP originally), so I need some very explicit instructions. Hope someone can help. Thanks in advance! P.S. I searched but didn’t find anything in either the forum or the codex; perhaps I didn’t use the necessary search terms. If this has been covered before, pointing me to the topic(s) might be sufficient.

  • I don’t really have “instructions” for this. However, when WP 2.1. has been released I wrote a post about the Pages in the new version. After reading it, try to check if your Pages are OK in the database.

Thanks, Moshu! As I expected, once I got into my database using phpAdmin, I could see that all of my Pages had their post_type set to “post”, where previously they were “page”. I couldn’t work out how to change all of them to “page” at the same time, but I could edit each within phpAdmin and get all back to normal again. Now I had better learn how to back up the database. ??
