• Having successfully managed to work out how to get my links displaying in their categories the way I wanted them in my sidebar, I have lost the little bullet thingies that were displayed before each link name and I kind of want them back!

I am using the Desert 1.5 theme. I had a poke around in the sidebar.php file and figured out that all the other things like post categories, archives etc that had the bullet point before them had the following code before them in the sidebar file: <ul id=is_link>. So I pasted that back in on the line before wp_list_bookmarks and the bullets came back, but the font size of all the headings on side bar after that point were reduced also! Not sure how this happened, hence this cry for help! I have deleted the extra code that I added and now I have no bullets again!

If anybody can help with this I will love you forever! I thought I was so clever figuring it out this far, but I’d like some help now! My blog is https://www.sarahklass.com if anybody wants to go and check out the sidebar to see what I’m on about.

    Thanks!!

  • When display problems always start with validation:
    https://validator.w3.org/check?verbose=1&uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.sarahklass.com%2F%3Fp%3D132
(I tried to validate a single post because the main page was too long… but the sidebar is the same)

Thanks for that link! Wow it looks like there is a whole bunch of errors! What I want to do is not an error as such though… I just want to know how to get my bullets back! Any ideas?

No ideas until you clean up the code because nobody will look at it until is validated.

And, actually, you are wrong: it is because of errors, more exactly because of wrong code in your sidebar.

I’m really sorry – you can probably tell that I am very new to all of this, but I have NO idea how to clean up the code so it can be validated! All of that code has been there the whole time – the only bit I have ever touched is when I put in the ‘wp_list_bookmarks()’ a couple of hours ago.

I upgraded to version 2.3.1 recently – would that be the cause of all the errors? I’m a bit stuck as to what I should do next…
