I have subscribers in my new website. Where did they come from?
-
I set up my WordPress website about a month back, and am still learning the ropes of maintaining one, tinkering around, making minor adjustments here and there. On short, I’m still pretty new at this. Most problems, I am able to solve on my own, eventually, but this one really baffles me.
I received emails occasionally from WordPress, saying that so-and-so subscribed to my website (40 subscribers to date). True enough, I can see them listed in my Users page, as subscribers. But the big question is – where did they come from? I don’t see any buttons or links that says “Click Here To Subscribe” anywhere in my website.
And the weird thing is, ALL of the emails and user names do have creepy pattern of similarities with one another. I may me overthinking this, but it’s really weird… To me at least.
Second question is – Eventually I’m planning to set up an e-commerce function to the website. So I’m running a dummy website off localhost, just to familiarise myself with things before I launch it onto the Internet. And the same, or rather similar question arises – How to I get people to sign up as “registered members“? I see a link to “Log In” in the Meta section of the Widgets, but nowhere can I find a “Register As Member” link anywhere.
Any help would be most welcome. Thank you all in advance.
Sincerely,
CHOW, Wei-Ming
