    Hi,

I started podcasting some days ago and now I have a suggestion for iTunes integration: I’ve seen that podcasts of many well-known DJs are marked as “Clean”.

The podcasts of Talla 2XLC or Markus Schulz are a good example on that.

    The plugin’s states are

    <itunes:explicit>no</itunes:explicit> (default) and
    <itunes:explicit>on</itunes:explicit> (when ticked),

but Apple’s Podcast specifications only allow

    <itunes:explicit>clean</itunes:explicit> and
    <itunes:explicit>yes</itunes:explicit>.

I know it would be a hassle to change that on already existing installations so just a small idea for replacing it “on the fly”: If the database field “Explicit” contains anything except “on”, the output to the feed should be “clean”. If it is “on”, it could be replaced by “yes”. New default should be “clean”.

What do you think about that?

Hmm – iTunes have obviously changed their requirements because the two options used to be ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ (which is exactly what this plugin uses). I see that iTunes have also added a number of other tags as optional, so I will work on updating the plugin to include all of that.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention!

    Cheers,
    Hugh

    Hey Hugh,

I installed the update and the magic already happened in my podcast on iTunes: All items are marked “Clean” now. ??

Thank you for the quick implementation.

FYI: The feed still shows “No” for unmarked items. But that seems not to affect anything. When marked, it shows “Yes” and that’s perfect. ??

OK great – glad it’s sorted out now ??
