I cannot get Wordfence to complete a scan. It gets stuck at the same point as per below. I have followed the document instructions and changed to 15 and other option as it details but doesn’t help.

[Oct 19 15:59:35] Scanning your site for the HeartBleed vulnerability Secure.
[Oct 19 15:59:39]Fetching core, theme and plugin file signatures from Wordfence Success.
[Oct 19 15:59:40]Fetching list of known malware files from Wordfence
    Success.

  • Hi,

How much memory is allocated to your site? You may be running out of memory. Are you seeing a memory error? Try “Test your WordPress host’s available memory” near the bottom of the Wordfence options page, and let us know

    Thanks!

    Hi Brian,

thanks, we have plenty of memory. Just did a test to update and confirm now:
    Current memory usage: 27.75M
    Setting max memory to 90M.
Starting memory benchmark. Seeing an error after this line is not unusual. Read the error carefully
to determine how much memory your host allows. We have requested 90 megabytes.
Completing test after benchmarking up to 80.25 megabytes.
    –Test complete.–

Congratulations, your web host allows you to use at least 80.25 megabytes of memory for each PHP process hosting your WordPress site.

This issue has been going on for about a year now, so am never really sure how secure we are.
    Cheers,
    Alan.

    Thanks for the additional details.

I know you mentioned reading the documentation already — we’re transitioning some content from an older support site, so just in case you haven’t seen the current version, I’m linking to it here:
My scans don’t finish. What would cause that?

Depending on your site’s content and other plugins, the memory test may not be testing high enough — can you try also increasing the amount of memory that Wordfence requests, mentioned in the documentation? The option name is “How much memory should Wordfence request when scanning”.

You can also set “Maximum execution time for each scan stage” back to blank, since that did not help.

On sites that run on the LiteSpeed web server, this can happen too — if you’re not sure which server software your host is using, we can check if you don’t mind posting the site’s URL here.

Also, do you know if your host limits your account in any other ways, such as maximum CPU usage, number of processes, requests per hour, etc.? The hosting company should be able to tell you, if you are not sure.

    Thanks Matt,

I’ve spoken again with the host and they said that they had changed some things several months ago that may have changed things for us.

They have fixed a parameter within the LiteSpeed that you made mention of above. I sent them the link to our conversation.

It is all fixed and has now completed the first scan in some time. So thank you for your very helpful insight. ??
