  • I saw a similar message on the dashboard of my live site after I had restored a backup of the live site (including plugins) to a new development site domain. Both sites connected Jetpack to the same wordpress.com account.

The message didn’t make any sense to me either. It wasn’t even immediately obvious it came from Jetpack.

I’ve since disconnected both sites from wordpress.com then enabled the Jetpack feature “Manage Multiple Sites” on each site & reconnected. I can now see each site in my wordpress.com account and haven’t seen any more confusing messages about domain changes.

I hope the Jetpack authors may be able to explain & perhaps change the confusing messages.

    Hope this was some help.

    Jetpack Mechanic ??

Both answers are true, both .de and .com are my domains? I want to work on the https://www.xyz.com site, what should I answer?

Although you may own both domains, only one of them is attached to your WordPress installation. You can find out which one by going to Settings > General in your dashboard.

If you’re still not sure which URL to pick, could you post your domain here so I can have a look?

If you want it to remain private, you can also contact us via this contact form:

Hi, I had the same message pop up after moving the site to a beefier hosting plan. The URL has remained the same, however. If I reset the connection (to the same URL), will it loose all of the Jetpack Data previously collected? Or will that be preserved? I want to be sure before I do anything.

    Thanks!
