Alright, I’m very new to all of this, I have a read a lot, but I’m not quite understanding everything. Right now I need help with the installation phase of WordPress. I used GoDaddy to register my domain name and am currently using GoDaddy to host my domain name. I am on step 2 of installation where I’m supposed to fill out my database connection details such as: database name, MySQL username, password, and the other stuff. I’m sure someone knows what I’m talking about and what has to be filled in. If anyone can tell me where to find this information so I can fill that in on the notepad that would be great. Then I’m also wondering about step 4, upload everything, what am I supposed to be uploading, and where do I upload this to, my site?? How do I do this?

Thanks in advance for any possible help, I will greatly appreciate it.

    Thanks,
    Hayden

  • Hi Hayden,
Take note of the name and password for the database you created.
For GD, you usually also need to obtain the actual server address to substitute for ‘localhost’ in the config file. You can find that in your GD account also (if not call them).
Those are the 3 items to enter into the config file (and don’t forget to set permissions on that file to 400 after it’s all up).
Upload the WP files to wherever you want your blog to be.
    Best ??

Thank you so much for replying, that makes a litte more sense. Now I just need the terms dumbed down a little. So for the database name, is that the username I used to sign into my account at GD, or is that my domains name I registered or something different. Now for the server address, is that just the name of my domain I registered (ex: https://www.360gamereviews.biz)??

    Thank you,
    Hayden

P.S.- One more thing, how do I set permissions to 400??

Have you gone in and set up your database in GD? That is where you will get your DB Name and things.
