I’ve been setting up a new WP website for the last few weeks. My old one is still active, and accessible by adding “www.” before the domain name. My WP site was accessible by just starting with the domain name. All of a sudden, when I type in the WP address, “https://adhocgroup.net” I am sent to the old home page at “https://www.adhocgroup.net/AHG/home.html. So I removed the home page and its folder and even the index.html page from the server, so it isn’t even there. Now, rather than defaulting to the WP address, it still shows the old address (which isn’t even accurate as the old home page didn’t have anything past the extension “.net”. It now goes to a “404 not found” page.

Possible things that may have interfered: I just added MailChimp and an opt-in form on the blog pages.

Can anyone tell me what happened or how to fix this?

In case my explanation wasn’t clear, trying to go to the correct address, it acts like a redirect and then adds the incorrect extensions onto the URL, then goes to a 404 error page.

This wasn’t a log in problem, actually. It was a homepage redirect problem, which was solved by deleting a conflicting and unnecessary index.html file.
