When I put my email address on my site, and someone clicks it, it automatically tries to open Outlook. Most people don’t use outlook anymore. How can I get it to work with whatever they actually use for email?

Where can we find this link at?

Generally, it will open in whatever default email client the visitor has set, which in your case is probably Outlook.

    Hi Albatross0403,

As far as deciding what program to open up, I’m not sure if that is something you can decide on the programming end, or what the user has set as the default mail client.

That being said, I would also suggest trying to make that a link to a contact form that users can fill out instead of an email address. (alternatively you can have both)

For creating a contact form there are a variety of methods to do so, the most simplistic being Jetpack by WordPress.com. There is also Contact Form 7, and Caldera Forms which can allow for more complex forms.

    Hope this helps!

+1 for the contact form suggestion. If you simply link to your email address, spam bots can harvest it.

Thanks guys… That is what I thought but 2 customers swear that ‘It worked before’. I thought there might be a plugin somehow. Now I can explain it better…
