Translation with WPML

  • Hello!
    I was wondering why the only way to translate paragraph is by going to wpml>string translate?

    I have a multiple and long paragraph. If I want to translate it I need to go to WPML>String Translation. I have nothing about String Translation when it come to sentences or words but I don’t think it is user friendly when it come to paragraph. Is there a reason for that?

    Hi there,
    you’re absolutely right, the WPML String Translation method is not user friendly, as it does not provide visual editing, that is the primary purpose of the plugin.
    That’s the reason why starting from the next version we will deprecate the use of WPML String Translation in favor of the WPML Widgets plugin (3rd party). WPML Widgets allows to assign a language to each widget, so you’ll be able to create multiple widgets, one for each language (multilanguage widgets are supported too). That’s the same approach implemented natively by Polylang, a plugin alternative to WPML.
    The current dev version of our plugin, available on GitHub, already detects and supports the WPML Widgets plugin, but you may also use it with the current stable version (2.2.8), that should work but it will probably continue to save data also on the WPML string translation.
