Unable To E-Mail Database Backup File

When I try to email my wordpress database backup I get the following error message: Unable To E-Mail Database Backup File For ‘October 3, 2015 @ 7:47 pm’ To ‘[email protected]’
My backup file is about 49MB. Is there some way to find out why this function isn’t working properly?
