My WordPress URL shows the 404 ERROR page instead of the specified home page.

All other pages and posts are displayed correctly.

It started some time ago but I did not change any settings on the server nor on the WordPress except the WordPress and a few plugins have been updated automatically recently.
I tried to disable all the plugins but the problem still exists.

I found that the home page displays correctly when I’m logged in as an administrator, but once I logged out I get 404 ERROR.

I checked the parmalink of the page which is specified as Front Page and it shows the correct URL (domain name only).

Any clue anyone? Could this be a server issue?

    Thanks in advance.

Is your home page set to display posts?

If so, do you have any Published not-Private posts?

If your home page is set to display posts, it will appear as 404 Not Found if it has no posts to publicly display.

If that’s not the issue, would you please give us a link to the site with the problem?

    James,
My home page is set to display one of the Pages.
Anyway the problem was resolved after I turned all the plugins back on.
How it happened is still unknown and very strange, but all is good for now.
    Thanks
