    Hello,

I’ve just installed the plugin for a website that is under construction.

The plugin is working perfectly on IE and Firefox, however I’m having issues on Chrome.

Issues: The first time I try to submit my data, if fails with a “Oops. Something went wrong. Please try again later.”. The second time, it works. The third time it fails, the fourth it works, and so on.

    Chrome Version 45.0.2454.101 m

Tested on normal browser and on incognito mode.

I have added the shortcode directly to my template
    <?php
    echo do_shortcode(‘[mc4wp_form]’);
    ?>

I also tried by adding directly to a text widget, with no luck.

Let me know if I can be of any help
    Thanks
    Alan

    Hey Alan,

I think I come across similar issue before and it was something related to caching. Can you let me know if you have any caching plugins activated? If yes can you please disable it and test again?

Same for me. Works in Firefox, though. Chrome has no plugins installed.

    Hi Thomas,

Are you having the same error where the forms only work a second time? That usually points to a caching issue so we’ll have to start looking there.

Does your WordPress installation run any caching related plugins?

Also, do you have an URL to your site?

    Hey,

yes, it’s the same error. No caching plugins, fresh wordpress install. Only other plugin is contact form 7.

    Hello Thomas,

I just tested your website and it worked for me the first time itself without any issue. You should have our email address in your list.

Do you have any extensions in Chrome that are related to forms?

    Hey,

I tested it on two machines (both macs, one yosemite one el capitan) with the same results. Form works on second try without doing anything to the input fields. Just hitting the button again.

Disabled all plugins in chrome, same result.

Just tried it on a windows 7 machine with chrome. Works on the first try.

Seems to be related to mac then.

    best regards
    Thomas

    Hello Thomas,

I had earlier tested the form on Chrome in El Capitan. And it worked well. I’ll keep this issue open in case someone faces similar issue so we could gather more data.

    Hi guys,

I am experiencing a similar issue.

I am using Chrome on a mac. And I’m also hosted on WP Engine which has caching built in, so it’s not through a standard plugin.

But it seems to be related to Chrome’s autofill functionality, at least for me.

If I start typing and then hit the tab key to autofill my info (name and email) from my chrome’s autofill history, the form will not submit successfully ?? Once I use the autofill, it doesn’t matter if I try to re-type the info manually, the form will not submit, throwing the “Oops! … ” error.

But if I reload the page, and type my info in manually, without using the autofill feature, the form will submit no problem.

You can check it out here, using either of the two forms near the bottom of the page (although, the site is live, so you will be signed up for our newsletter if you can get the form to submit ??

Can anyone here confirm that behavior? If so, I think we’d be a lot closer to understanding it.

    Thanks!

    Hmmm…

Upon further testing, it seems to correlate with the use of the autofill AND the caching.

On my staging site, which is not cached, the autofill functionality does not cause the form submit to fail. Only on my live site (which is cached by WP Engine).

But still, on my live site, the failure of the form submit definitely is correlated with the use of the autofill feature. When I type information in manually, the form never fails.

I’ve also tested this on FireFox and Safari for mac os, and both browsers work fine, with or without the use of the autofill feature. Definitely seems to be Chrome autofill related.

Any progress on this issue. I imagine I’m losing a good bit of subscribers because of this. Chrome browser and autofill are both pretty popular :-/

Thanks in advance for you help troubleshooting!

    Hey Colin,

Good find! We’re releasing an update in a bit that addresses this issue and should fix it.

    Colin

    That is FANTASTIC news.

Thanks so much for the wonderful support!

I look forward to the update.

    Hey Colin,

Version 2.3.17 should show up in your WP Admin as an available update any minute now. Please let me know if that’s not fixing it!

    (@colinsafranek)

    hmmm…

is there a typo in the latest version? I’m seeing Version 2.7.23 as the latest in my WP Admin, FYI.

or is that the difference between lite and pro?

    Colin

    (@colinsafranek)

Oh, and I can confirm that the issue is fixed for me!

    Wonderful.

    Thank you.

    Hi Colin,

Ah, yes. If you’re a Pro user then the version number will be 2.7.23.

We’re working on version 3.0 after which the versions between the two will be consistent, to make things easier. ??
