Shortcode – excluding categories

    Hello, I’m trying to use the shortcode on a page, and make it exclude categories so that it’s only pulling posts from a specific subset of posts. I can’t seem to get it to work no matter what I try, including these variations:

    [crp limit=”6″ heading=”0″ cache=”0″ exclude_categories=”advice, inspiration”]
    [crp limit=”6″ heading=”0″ cache=”0″ exclude_categories=”54, 63″]
    [crp limit=”6″ heading=”0″ cache=”0″ exclude_cat_slugs=”advice, inspiration”]

    Am I doing something wrong or is there a problem?

    With the current version, you will need to add this to your Related Posts Settings page.

    Are you doing this on a post by post basis with different categories?

    I’ll add this as one of the things to add to the plugin in the next version to bring back this functionality. In previous versions, this was a result of a massive performance issue because it needed an unnecessary extra queries for those not using this feature.

    Actually I’m trying to make it so that on one specific static page, it shows a set of specific related posts. So I added a bunch of posts to a new category, and then tried to exclude all the other categories. I guess there’s no way to do that in the current version? It would be great if it was possible to specify a category in the shortcode to only show related posts from that category.

    Include categories is on the charts, but in a paid addon.

    From what you mentioned above, you could potentially add the related posts using the Manual Posts in the meta box in your page.
