• I know a lot of people have posted here with issues about woocommerce emails not being sent/not arriving, and I’ve read a lot of these posts, and I think my problem is different.

Am testing an ecommerce site, and the only emails that were being received, either by the shop owner or by purchasers were ‘out of stock’ emails. I installed WP Mail Log to check that the mails were being sent (they were) and I tested with sends to: my everyday google apps address, another gmail address, and a third address that’s hosted on a corporate exchange set up. I also tested with HTML, text and multipart messages. Still the only emails that were received were the ‘out of stock’ messages to my google apps account, although note that no other emails were not received by this account (eg. notification of a new order).

See here for an visual summary of what was and wasn’t received: https://i.imgur.com/m7WOJce.png

I’ve removed identifying details, but it should all be clear. So, to summarise, the emails are being sent, and apart from the ‘out of stock message’, none are being received despite being sent to different accounts (gmail, exchange).

I don’t know where to go next to try and debug this, so I’d be hugely grateful if anyone has any tips. Thanks in advance.

  • Hello Luke,
    Please make sure the following-
    1. You have checked for plugin and theme conflicts by deactivating all your plugins and using a default WordPress theme.
    2. You have checked the spam folder in your mail.
    3. You have not changed anything on WooCommerce source code.
    4. Tried on a different host.

Thanks for replying, a couple of notes below.
    1. I’ll try this, thanks.
    2. They’re definitely not going to spam.
    3. I’ve only added a few custom CSS declarations for visual styling.
    4. Do you mean move the site to a different host? That sounds like a big step.

    4. Only just for testing purpose. Because I am suspecting that your mail server might be the causing the problem. You can take a complete backup of your site and ask a friend to lend you some hosting for couple of hours to test.

Okay, thanks for that. I’ll try step 1 first.

Sorry, one other query, if I deactivate all plugins, I presume woocommerce will no longer work, as it’s a plugin, correct? If so, will the site still ‘work’? As in, the emails are being sent when orders are made but will it be possible to make orders without the woocommerce plugin being activated?
