    Hi there,
    We had a site hack, and had to restore from an old backup. After the restore, all of our many galleries are no longer showing images in wordpress admin or the front end. Admin shows broken images, front end shows image name, and when clicked displays “The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.”
    I have looked at related posts in the forum, and already tried:
    -updating all plugins and theme
    -deactivating all plugins, clearing cache, and reactivating only NGGallery
    -switching to default theme with only NGGallery active.
    -deleting NGGallery altogether, and re-installing it.

    But the problem persists.
    Any ideas on why this is happening and what I can do to fix it would be much appreciated!

    @thepenumbrous – Depending on how you cleaned the “hack” might have affected the database … you can try using the Reset Option under Gallery > Other Options to see if that will restore things for NextGEN Gallery. You may also need to clear the NextGEN Gallery image cache under Gallery > Other Options > Miscellaneous as well.

    I am experiencing the same behavior on all of my sites that use the gallery.
    Reset Option under Gallery > Other Options and clear the NextGEN Gallery image cache under Gallery > Other Options > Miscellaneous did NOT work.

    Thank you for your reply.
    I had already tried the reset option multiple times, but I tried again, and also cleared the image cache. The problem persists.

    I personally did not clean the hack or do the restore, so I can’t say how that was completed, specifically. I did not build the site, but I update and maintain it. Is there anything that comes to mind which might have been caused by the cleaning process which might be messing with the gallery plugin, and which I might address with my other website people?

    I am willing to try anything that may save me from having to recreate and repopulate over 150 galleries.

    @thepenumbrous – My concerns are with how/if they “cleaned” the database which is where the gallery display settings are stored.

    As it is, the <img> “src” parameters are empty which points to the database references being “removed” in some fashion (for most cases).

    Although the Reset and cache clearing may not have helped you might try re-inserting the displays to see if that brings them back.

    Hi Cais,
    I went in and removed the gallery from a post, saved, then inserted it again and saved, but I am still getting the same: a red triangle with an ! shows in the post from admin, and the gallery shows titles but won’t load content in the front end.
    Is that what you meant me to try when you said you might try re-inserting the displays?

    I can see in the source code where the <img> src is empty – when you say, which points to the database references being “removed” in some fashion (for most cases), do you mean that the actual content (as in the images themselves) might have been wiped from the server? Or just that for some reason the plugin is no longer being told where to point to find them? If the latter is the case, do you know what I would have to do to correct that? I will try to get the server login info from the site’s creator to check it (via FTP) for the content.

    @thepenumbrous – The “red triangle” often times means the connection to the database is missing, corrupted, or the theme is not allowing for it to be read correctly.

    If it is tied back to the database then you may need to re-upload the images and then insert the “new” gallery displays into the posts/pages.

    To check the theme possibility, just temporarily switch to a default WordPress Twenty series theme and only have NextGEN Gallery active when you insert the display.

    When you tried the Reset Option, did it appear to put the plugin back to its default installation settings? If it did not then you may need our external Reset Tool plugin in that case.
