I was wondering how to make IP Blocking permanent for certain login attempts such as admin or administrator or the sitename. I NEVER use these IDs and know that if someone is attempting to use them, they are trying to hack into the site. I have set Wordfence to block the IPs for these user IDs, but they only get a temporary block. I want them to be permanently blocked. Is there a way to set that?
    Thanks,
    Mike

  • Hi Mike,

The way to make the IP’s permanent is to find the IP of the offender on the Blocked IP’s page while they are temporarily blocked and click “Block Permanently.” You can also look in Live Traffic, block the IP, and then go to Blocked IPs and make permanent. You may not want to do this though. The reason we default to non-permanent blocks is because the net is dynamic. IP’s change all the time. You might lock out a bad IP and then it gets reassigned to someone who legitimately wants to visit your site and then they are block.

    Hope this helps!
    Brian
