Got locked out of Clef-enabled sites
-
Installed Clef some two weeks ago (the then-available release, I can no longer determine what that was). Was very happy with the two-factor authentication and with the fact that the frequent failed logon attempts messages disappeared. Last week though, I was suddenly completely unable to log on to my dashboards, my (absolutely correct) passwords being refused after I’d first unsuccesfully attempted to use Clef for logon. Both Clef authentication and password logon worked before.
This happened on both the sites I had Clef installed on (https://floriskleijne.nl/wp/ and https://www.villadiodati.com/), and since these have very little in common, it’s not probable that it was a plugin or theme conflict. I was only able to access my sites again by editing wp_options to deactivate Clef.
I’ve seen on previous threads that this was a problem in previous releases, but should have been fixed with a previous release months ago. Is there hope that the issue will now get solved for good? The added value of Clef two-factor is huge, but not big enough to accept getting locked out of my own sites for no good reason.
