• Hi,
when i rearrange my menu and save the changes, everything works but unfortunately not for long.
After a while working on my site, parts of the menu are set to the bottom of the menu. When i open the admin menu editor, these menu items have a green puzzle piece saying “This item was automatically recreated. You cannot delete a non-custom item, but you could hide it.”

    Maybe this helps:
the menu items affected by this, came with the themes (e.g. to create events)
i use this plugin on a multisite

    Best regards,
    Manuel

After a while working on my site, parts of the menu are set to the bottom of the menu.

That usually happens when you edit the menu configuration on a site that doesn’t have those parts of the menu. It goes something like this:

    1. You edit the admin menu on site A and click “Save Changes”. The plugin saves a bunch of menu settings, which includes the position of each menu item. You are using a global configuration, so your changes affect all sites.
    2. You edit the admin menu on site B and save your changes. However, site B is missing some of the menus that site A had. From the plugin’s perspective those items no longer exist, so it automatically removes all settings associated with the missing items from the global menu configuration.
    3. Some time later, you go to site A. Some menu items have no settings stored. The plugin defaults to displaying them at the bottom of the menu.

    Possible workarounds:

    • Create a test site that has all of the menu items that you’re planning to use. Only edit the menu configuration from that site.
    • Switch to per-site menu settings. You can configure that by clicking the “Settings” button on the menu editor page. This way changes you make on one site will not affect other sites.

    Hi Janis,

wow, thanks for that quick and precise answer!
I used the “per-site” option and it works great.

    Best Regards,
    Manuel
