Hi, I have a running 2.3 WordPress site which has been installed on the default UTF-8 character encoding. My site is in Bulgarian and thus I face some difficulties with this encoding. I need to switch to windows-1251 but I can’t seem to find a way to that without losing all my database. Can you please help me?

Or!!! Is there a way, to import windows-1251 content to my UTF-8 wordpress? The exact opposite too, my UTF-8 content to another windows-1251?

You shouldn’t. If you write your blog (as opposed to copy/paste from a windows-1251 source… it should display correctly! utf-8 is universal for all languages.

    Where are you importing from?

It’s not a problem of importing. I cannot embed content from windows-1251 sites. For example, the forum is in windows-1251 and I cannot put latest posts on the blog. Also, other sites cannot embed my RSS news into their sites, because they are in windows-1251.

But if your blog has been written in utf-8 you cannot just decide one day that you want to change the encoding. It will mess up everything in your blog.

(Everybody should use utf-8 in every program: that’s why it has been invented to avoid the headaches…)
