Admin page submenu layout breaks on Chrome 45.0.2454.85 m

Steps to reproduce:

1. Prepare clean installed instance of WP 4.3 or 4.2.4 English (or Japanese)
2. Go to admin page
3. Make the Chrome window longer than the size of the admin menu
(make sure all the menu items are shown in the browser window)
4. Press “Dashboard”
5. Submenu is rendered in a broken way

On Chrome 44.0.2403.157 m (Previous) and IE 11, Firefox 40.0.3 don’t cause this issue.

Does anyone have a workaround? Is it chrome’s problem?

For my test environment, the latest quick fix plugin didn’t work.

The following version works.

You might need to add chrome version check for this version, though.

Chrome 45 has a rendering bug. There is a ticket open on Chrome’s bug tracker about this issue, hopefully they will fix it soon.

In the meantime, here is a workaround to eliminate the issue in Chrome.

– Go to chrome://flags/#disable-slimming-paint
– Enable the “Disable slimming paint” option.
– Ensure that the “Enable slimming paint” option below it is not turned on.
– Relaunch Chrome.

When you’re done, the final result should look like this:

This will disable the problem code in Chrome and allow the menus to render normally.

Flags finally worked… Had to try 3 times before it worked. But that might be a Win10 hangup…who knows…

I can confirm that Otto’s solution worked for me.

Fixed Chrome but makes Chrome Canary fall apart.

I can live with that for now.

Fixed Chrome but makes Chrome Canary fall apart.

Chrome Canary should not need this fix. They pushed a fix in for this particular issue into Canary two days ago. The same fix has been pushed into Chrome 45 and 46, and should be coming out on both the Stable and Beta channels sometime this week.
