I installed Google Places Reviews plugin. I created the API: AIzaSyAvT2EQPCs02D10JIeD_XuS_G3MwZah7zQ and added it correctly.

I also added Location Place ID: ChIJRbAMYqZ13IARRB4ig_s5SkA

However, I am still getting the error “Sorry, this business does not have a proper Place ID set. Write a review
There are no reviews yet for this business. Be the first to review”

    Please help me.

    Hi Sam,

That error means that your G+ Place ID isn’t populated in the widget correctly. When you searched for your business in the widget did it show up correctly? Can you send me the following info:

    1) Link to your website where the error is occurring
    2) Link to your business G+ Profile page?

    Thanks!

    Hi Matt,

    Thanks for replying.

Yes, the id was populated correctly. Below is the requested info:

    1) larrysbmwparadise.com
    2) https://plus.google.com/106749089639091467257/about

I will wait for your resolution.

    Hi Sam,

I tried it on our demo site and it worked great:
    https://googleplacesreviews.wordimpress.com/sidebar-widget/

See the second widget on the right side.

I would try double-checking your API settings using our recently updated documentation: https://wordimpress.com/documentation/google-places-reviews/creating-your-google-places-api-key/

Also, anytime you make a change in your settings or the API key, go into the widget and open the “Advanced” tab and click the “Clear Cache” button.

    Hi,

Yes, I found the widget and I am not sure what am I missing at my end. I followed the steps very precisely to create the API Key but it is still not working. I cleared the cache as well but the problem is still there.

Can you please provide me a working API key that you used or any other one for testing so that I can test it on my website to see if I am missing something or there is something else that is causing the issues.

Thanks in advance for this help.

    Hi Sam,

We just had a user suggest that if you create both a “Browser Key” AND a “Server Key”, then use the Browser Key in the plugin settings that it will work. Can you try that and let me know?

That’s not how I set up our demo site or any of my local sites, but I want to see if this other users experience can be duplicated. Thanks!

    Hi again,

Great! It is working fine with server key but not with browser key. I am not sure what’s the problem but you can suggest users to use Server key sometimes.

    Thanks!

Thanks so much for the confirmation. I’ll update our documentation on that. Thanks!

I think this is some kind of caching issue. I tested your plugin on a staging site and just created a browser key, it worked fine!
When I then tried on my live site it didn’t work. I finally had it working when I re-created the browser key and then created a server key but still used the browser key in the settings.

Thanks for your response Ben. We do cache the API results from the plugin, and you can clear that cache in the “Advanced Options” section of the widget. But then you might have other server side caching or plugin caching as well.

    Thanks!

I actually did try clearing the cache and I have no other caching going on. I’ll let you know if I run into the issue again.

Hi I am actually having the same issue. I’ve tried everything mentioned in this forum but nothing yet.

    My website is:
    https://www.outofsitepeaceofmind.com/

I have hit the restore to default button on the widget a few times, I’m not even sure if that’s what everyone means by clearing the cache, but I’m unable to find that button in advanced.

    Any help is appreciated. Thanks

    Hi @carrion215

I was able to add your business to our Demo site as well. See here:
    https://googleplacesreviews.wordimpress.com/sidebar-widget/

Here’s a screenshot of the “Clear Cache” button in the “Advanced Options” section inside the Widget on the widgets.php page:
    https://db.tt/Rq1L9UpV

Make sure that you type the business name exactly as it appears on your G+ site. Then also make sure that you have properly setup your Google Places API per our documentation:
    https://wordimpress.com/documentation/google-places-reviews/

    Thanks!

I’ve been having a similar problem. I went ahead and removed the widget and then reinstalled it. Now when I search for my google business name it shows up, but it doesn’t place my location ID (nothing happens when I click on my business name). I can select other business names and it will populate the business name correctly.

    Hi @sdsunick

Can you provide a link to your G+ business page so I can test that as well?
