    Have you tried storing your translations in the global language directory?
    This is the correct way to avoid losing them, but you must make the directory writable as per the installation instructions.

    Hi tim!

    Thank you for your reply.
    The translation for core admin area IS located in the global language directory:
    /wp-content/languages/admin-de_DE.mo
    /wp-content/languages/admin-de_DE.po
    But every automatic WordPress translation update overwrites this file…

    I see. I guess there’s no safe location for these files then. There’s nothing Loco Translate can do avoid this.

    As you can see, core translations are an experimental feature in this plugin. I’ll bear this issue in mind for future work.
